Once again, we are breaking into the series tasting wines from each of Italy's twenty wine regions. This article examines a noble red wine from the island of Sicily in southern Italy. It is very far from a bargain wine. We were about a dozen to taste it. I'll be presenting my opinions and those of others. The other big daddy of smoking wood...if you're from Texas. This wood is the most powerful of all smoking wood. Mesquite has a very strong and robust flavor. Best used with beef and larger cuts of meat. Of course, it's often the choice for Texas beef brisket in slow cooker. Too much of this smoking wood will render your food inedible. Go light and mix it with other smoking wood until you get a better feel of mesquite's power. I may throw a chunk, or two onto my Thanksgiving turkey fire if I'm feeling a bit rebellious. A chip, or two on the grill adds a nice southwest flavor to a steak...just go easy! We cart them off to school or day care every morning. Pick them up late in the evening or at night and race to get them bathed and in bed at an acceptable time all in preparation to separate from them the following morning. Brunswick Stew: Ingredients--2 1/2 to 3 lbs chicken pieces; 2 quarts water; 1 onion, chopped; 2 cups cubed, cooked ham; 3 potatoes, diced; 2 (16 oz) cans diced tomatoes; 1 (10 oz) pkg frozen lima beans, partially thawed; 1 (10 oz) pkg frozen whole kernel corn, partially thawed; 2 tsp salt; 1/2 tsp seasoned salt; 1 tsp sugar; 1/4 tsp pepper. Directions: In slow cooking brisket combine chicken with water, onion, ham and potatoes. Cook, covered on low for 4 to 5 hours or until chicken is done. Lift chicken out of pot. Remove meat from bones and return chicken meat to pot. Add tomatoes, beans, corn, salt, seasoned, sugar and pepper. Turn control to high. Cover and cook for 1 hour. Serve with large individual bowls. What I do is mix some good quality store bought barbecue sauce with a little beef broth to thin it a bit. I like to use a smoke flavored barbecue sauce. To give it a little more smoky flavor, I also add a few drops of liquid smoke. This makes a very tasty braising liquid. Get up before everyone else. I admit this is the hardest one for beef brisket bone, but if you do wake up first you can get your first cup of coffee or juice in peace, take a shower and some mornings even get dressed all by yourself. You no longer have to depend on frozen processed meals to feed your family. slow cooking beef recipes can enable you to prepare a meal in your crock pot while you are at work. When you get home from work, most slow cooker recipes will be ready to serve! Removable insert: Always choose a crock pot, that features a removable insert that is certainly needed for easier cleaning of the appliance. Using this type of feature you can just eliminate the insert and wash it to ensure other the different parts of the cooker aren't getting damaged. My final meal started with Mediterranean olives. Their salt managed to reduce this libation to precious little. It did pick up about halfway upon encountering a pickled onion. Then came a boxed Baked Ziti Siciliano that I doused with grated Parmesan cheese. In response the liquid was slightly sweet but thin. Fresh pineapple gave my glass some chocolate but nothing else. When paired with Swiss dark chocolate with orange flavor and almonds this liquid was essentially gutted with some sour fruit.
